Running, Fishing and More Fishing In Hervey Bay Australia

21, July 2009 By Danny

So for a long time, Jane has talked about going running, so today we decided that we would go running. On the beach, there are two piers a fair distance apart but not miles away. We both start running together, but Jane is not at the same speed as me, so I just pushed on and ran ahead to the pier and ran back.

I find Jane almost collapsed; she was now walking and decided that the pier was possibly a little too far away. I am currently running towards the next peir, and Jane has disappeared to the camper, so that was our running partnership short-lived!

So we grab a shower and decide to head to the town and see what’s around. We walked around the town and found a bait shop, so I bought some bits to attempt sea fishing. I have never caught a fish while on holiday, so I decided that on this trip I was going to catch it!!

That afternoon we headed to another beach where I fished, and there was lots of fish. Still, none liked what I had on my hook, so after realising that the tide had come in. Now I have to pretty much swim back to Jane, who was sunbathing on the beach. I got my trainers soaked, and they were now stinking. I had managed to drop Squid guts on them, and this was a putrid smell, but then that’s fishing!

That evening we decided to give fishing another go. We head to the pier by this time, it is now very dark, and Jane is not too keen on the idea of sitting on the pier at night, but we get on with it. There are a few people fishing, and yet no one had caught anything to speak about, so now I was determined to catch. So some time pass and I have a few bites but nothing to show for it.

Then my rod went crazy. I am hooked into a massive fish. I reel her in and land her on the pier and unhook it’s huge!!! I dropped her, and she flapped around and fell through a gap in the pier decking! It was a huge 10cm’s!!!

That was it. The night was over!! I was ok with my catch, but fish had to be taken off the menu the following night!
