Today we left Wanaka and headed to Franz Josef. This was a long drive, and in the pouring rain just made it seem longer.
We stopped a few times on route at viewing points, and in laybys where there were short walks to great views and waterfalls.
We arrived at Franz Josef five hours after setting off and went straight to check in. It was still raining, and it didn’t seem like it would let up anytime soon.
We decided to spend the evening in as the communal lounge was very cozy. We ended up watching three films back to back and getting to bed after midnight. It was a long day.
