Today we spent the day doing odd bits and bobs. I chatted with friends and family on skype which was nice and caught up on all the gossip at home. Then we took our humongous pile of laundry to the laundromat to clean. It was the cheapest place so far that we had come across to do laundry so we near enough done everything that we had taken with us. Five wash loads and several dries later we were done.
The rest of the day we didn’t do much, just sorted out our things, packed and repacked our bags and booked our transfer to the airport for the morning.
It wasn’t until around 8.30 in the evening the earth started to move for us! We experienced a 4.8 scale earthquake followed by a 3.2 about 20 minutes later. I was very scared. It had only lasted 15-20 seconds but the whole hotel room shock, and we didn’t know what to do or what precautions to take or where to hide. But thankfully it was only a few seconds long, it didn’t get any worse, and everyone was fine.
We found out later on on the news that we were only a mile away from the epicenter and that there appeared to be no severe damage done, just the odd broken window.
So we’ve now experienced our first weather phenomenon, I wonder if we’ll experience anymore?
