If you sit back and think about Norway, you imagine rolling beautiful landscapes with deep coastal Fjords, mountains and beautiful Glaciers. Still, you never think of Norway as a place for architecture.
Forest Pool
A hundred years or so ago someone thought it would be a good idea to create this naturally fed swimming pool in the forest near Oslo. The water is not warm in the slightest, but the location is idyllic and makes for a fairytale setting for a very refreshingly cold swim.
Borgund Stave Church
The Borgund Stave Church and this barn in Valldal can be found in Borgund a small village and is classed as a triple nave stave church of the Sogn-type. The Borgund Stave Church is the best preserved of Norway’s 28 nave stave churches.
Barns are a significant part of Norway’s history. Lars Petter Olsen Valldal spent many many years building this beautiful barn in the Valldal Valley that was finished in 1885.
Bridge Over Låtefossen Waterfall
Latefossen is one of the most wondrous waterfalls in the Odda Valley, and this beautiful six arched bridge made from stone which was built in 1859 crosses it dramatically.
Old Seter Huts, Norangdal Valley
In the Norangdal Valley, there are these old Seter huts which are actually tiny farms where people used to live during the summer months to take care of their cattle.
At the End of the World
This photo is of “worlds End” right at the southernmost point of Tjøme which offers magnificent views towards Skagerrak, and this is where you will find the Basket Lighthouse created using drift boulders in the 1930s. I think you will agree that it is beautiful and this photo is stunning.
